burnt
quietly this time
and i stopped by the memory of you.
the smile you liked the best,
the one that cracked at the edges,
spread slowly over my face.
because i saw us running through puddles
sitting underneath that big old tree
standing outside under the lights
that burnt our skin.
and i reached out to touch that memory.
to touch your face.
but my fingers pressed against the glass instead.
that smile you liked the best,
the one that was always just for you,
spread sadly over my face.
and i walked on.
