hammock

the wind is ripping through my heart

and you're still sound asleep

He has hidden all the stars tonight

(maybe just from me.)

gusts shake the tree i'm sleeping in

and rumble in my brain

i close my eyes and listen for

the mountain destined train.

my dreams are full of shadows

and songs i've never heard

a girl watches the skyline

and a boy slides into third.

i wake up to the sounds of grace,

spilling from the leaves,

there is freedom from the darkness

for the girl who still believes.
