live

i sit in the sun at the crossroads and weep.
all of those beautiful days.
one after another.
jewels to put into my crown.

of all the secret desires in my heart
why must You take this one?

the grass is growing in the front lawn.
these dark winter days.
one after another.
shadows in my soul.

my memories. so preciously collected and hoarded.
but they're only stones now.
the life has gone out of them.
forbidden fire became forbidden when i
ruined it.

You have come to take.
i know it.

but when i wearily come to terms,
i stretch out my string of days
bloody hands open
and You whisper the word that raised the dead and broke the stones.

(LIVE)

so You did not take at all.
things fell.

and the stones look so beautiful there among the wildflowers.

  7. That last line really gets me. And the last picture too, the tip of tree, sliver of moon and slight draping of cloud. They both work so well, all the feels.
