everything seems so slow

everything seems so slow.
i could sit forever, still and thick with sunlight, and never know how long i had been there.

everything seems so slow.
i wake at the burning edge of dawn, eyelids heavy with moonlight and dreaming, and i watch the dappled patterns on the wall.

time doesn't stay here.
it peeped through the windows this morning and saw that it was not needed. and exhaling frost on the pane, it moved on.

everything seems so slow.
no matter how many words spill from my fingers, i still feel the silence in the corners of the room.i cannot change the quiet. i can simply be overwritten by it. page by page, my noise falls apart and i am formed into silence too.

the others wake.

i do not mention the silence of the night. they all wrestle with silence of their own.

everything seems so slow.

xx

hi! so sorry for my absence. i got a nasty virus and ending up passing out a few times due to low blood pressure. (!) i'm pretty much all recovered, and it's good to be back! ♥♥♥

  1. In the words of Robin Hood, "It's good to have you back." And in the words of Zane, "Welcome back."

And in the words of me, "I love this and I want more. Christ is mightily at work in you, my friend." :-)

  6. Hate to hear the reason for your absence. Glad that you are recovered, though.

I just wrote a post about how I'm seeking slowness, so this was an interesting read for me. I love the still, quiet, slow moments, but I understand how sometimes life seems to slow to an almost standstill. That just gets irritating.

    Favorite line:
    "time doesn't stay here.
it peeped through the windows this morning and saw that it was not needed. and exhaling frost on the pane, it moved on."

Goodness. Your poems never fail to take my breath away and this one hit really close to home. I just love the imagery with the burning edge of dawn and how you described your eyes. It's so perfectly melancholy. Amazing job, per the usual. ♥♥♥
