afternoon thoughts
i sat in that faded blue chair, watching the sun come up over the
poplars that grew in the backyard.
she said they grew fast.
she yawned.
curled her feet around each other.
he looked like a hurricane.
it's funny what you remember at 2:00 in the afternoon
on a sunday in january.
when the snow is deep enough to drown in
and the world is the color
of roses
that are dead.
