arizona - part one


New Mexico is quiet tonight.
she is wide and she is deep and she is
empty.
do you look at me the way i look at her?
do you see
empty?

the night falls into the cracks of our old car
and it is the color of cold sage.
i didn't know what color that was before now.

someone laughs. probably my mama.

New Mexico passes into Arizona.
i miss her already.

so i'm on the road again! come with me, yeah?

    this makes my heart hiccup and my mind wander and my pulse faster and my eyes fill with tears of longing and joy and wonder.
    i have long dreamed of such places. for years. and now some music tour dates are possibly being filled, in these very areas. and it's midnight and i'm not sleeping but i'm awake dreaming and hopelessly trying to tamper excitement. the last week was hard and i just wanted to be gone and all the sudden things are looking up and more dreams are starting to come true and i look in my feed and there is this.
    oh. my. word.
    i can't even begin to describe the old feelings and new hopes and current obsession that this is to me.
