something missing



what is missing? oh, something is missing!
                        cries the little butterfly.

she leans down
kissing the broken stump over and over.

oh.

oh, she beats her silver wings desperately.
        but all in vain.

you are missing.
she whispers as she flies away.
                                  you are missing from me.

Because the trees are gone.

And one little butterfly
can only mourn the passing
of what she knew.
